$4.5 million raised for turning mobile phones to Servers
A Swedish mobile company Conveneer raised an amount of $4.5 million for turning Mobile phones to servers. The company previously raised money from the founders and Teknoseed.
The mobile platform Mikz that Conveneer is building will be able to assign a URL to mobile phones, making the content on phones accessible on the Web. Like if your phone has a URL like http://mymobile.me.uk, other Web applications and services can access the data that is present in your phone. Mikz can pull vital information from your phone like your contacts, photos, ringtones, music and other files. It creates a Web interface for your phone.
The company is convincing both handset manufacturers mobile service providers to add the service in new phones. Carriers can provide all customers their own mobile URL. But carriers are likely to charge extra for this service.
A few weeks ago, an iPhone application called ServersMan@iPhone was launched which could turn your iPhone to a webserver.
