Mapquest launches Application for iPhone

MapQuest is one of the most popular online mapping services. It is one of the best sites to search for maps and directions online. Though it is not comparable to Google maps, it still is good. MapQuest has released ts first iPhone app. MapQuest 4 and it is a challenger for the iPhone's built-in mapping application. Not to forget, the default application on iPhone uses Google Maps.

The iPhone app for Mapquest focuses on finding local businesses and directions. One of the best features of the app is that it lets you save your maps and routes on the online account of Mapquest. You can have the saved map anytime anywhere on your phone. For example, you can click on the gas station icon and you’ll get a list of gas stations in and around the area.
MapQuest 4 Mobile has a number of useful features. You can also add stops to your maps. The app is not a fully dedicated GPS application but it really performs well when held in landscape mode.

MapQuest must be planning for a better version for iPhone 3.0. These will include push notifications and the ability to provide. Hopefully one would be able to use push notifications and send out alerts based on a user's location.
