Microsoft Expression Web SuperPreview for testing sites in Multiple Versions of Internet Explorer

If you make websites, you might be familiar with the fact that all browsers don't give the same kind of preview for a page in many cases. You will find differences even in the same browser of different versions. Well if you want to test how a page looks like in IE's old and new versions, Expression Web Super Preview might be of help. This new tool from Microsoft allows you to preview websites in multiple Internet Explorer browsers simultaneously, without having them installed. This release of this beta version was announced at the MIX09 Developer Conference.


In its blog, Microsoft Expression Web community has expressed that the versions of Internet Explorer made available within SuperPreview will vary as the version of IE installed on the computer.If you have the latest version of IE, you'll be able to use Expression Web Super Preview for viewing your site on all the previous versions. Like if you have IE 8, you can use the software for viewing your page in IE6, i.e. to see how it will look like in IE6. You can download the software here.

Expression Web SuperPreview also lets you compare a site side-by-side with a zoom level available upto 500%. Or you can also minimize the preview by zooming it out upto 21% and while you scroll to zoom in or out, the previews are synchroinized for both new and old versions.

To campare the page elements, you can also simply drage the rulers at required spots and then see how the page elements are aligned in each browsers. You cn also compare using the screenshots of websites in older and newer versions of IE using image capturing softwares like Snagit.

The premium version of Microsoft Expression Web Super Preview will not only support internet explorer but also support other browsers like Safari and Firefox. Webdesigner Depot also reports the application will eventually support multiple browser sizes as well as analytzing the page in computers with different screen resolutions.So, Microsoft Expression Web Super Preview can be a great tool for comparing a website across different browsers.
